Windows Xp Pro Sp3 Hp Oem
Hello to everyone, i 'm stuck here with a little problem. One of our pc-s at the office had Windows XP on it and unfortunatelly the hard drive just died. Since he is used for some graphical tasks (the software works only with XP), we are forced to installXP, and the one 64bit version. We got the CoA on the PC, but ain't no installation CD for that version of Windows (we got many of CD-s with x86 version). What i've tried - i found on some sources the Volume version of XP Pro SP2 x64, and i have read that changingthe last 3 chars of pid in the setupp.ini file is legal, and you can, actually, install a OEM version of windows from a retail cd-version (nothing about volume, but still). So i changed the 270 to OEM. But the thing is the installation doesn't take my key,and i have to admit, the Windows XP Pro x86 SP3 that we have the installation CD, is receiving the key.
What am i doing wrong? Is there a possibility somewhere to download the installation source? I just want to be able to activate our license for PC furtheruse and i really need to put him back on work asap. Is there any solution? I am not the admin here, i am just a simple user.

The admin is gone, and there is no other person who could do this, they asked me knowing that i have some bases on computer stuff. There is no backup that i would know about it, i guess, the guy just didn'tbackup because the computer, wasn't so important - no important information on it (the documents were saved automatically on a network disk), just software that can be reinstalled, nobody thought about some x64 OEM bullshit, that may be critical for recoveringthat machine.

Hi,The OEM license agreement is defined as a license which is valid for the lifespan of the hardware that it came installed on.There are some options:1. You can change the pid as you mentioned but you need to ensure its the correct PID and has OEM in the string.2. You can opt to activate via telephone automated service and select the option for hardware changes during activation3. You can contact an authorized Microsoft Reseller (Gold partner) who will be able to provide you with the correct CD or perhaps even if they can't they may be able to obtain a genuine retail key and CD for youHope this helps,MIf you find my information useful, please rate it.:-).
